ALICIA FRANKLIN
Ms. Franklin became a member of the Texas Bar in November 2003. She
received her law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in May 2003. Ms. Franklin was born and raised in Iowa and did her undergraduate work at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Criminal Justice.
Ms. Franklin began her legal career as an associate for an solo practitioner in San Antonio who practiced in numerous area
of law. She was anxious to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible and devoted all of her energy to the practice of law. She gained courtroom experience by accepting court appointments from various Bexar County judges to represent clients on criminal charges as well as child support enforcement actions. During her short but busy career in San Antonio, she gained valuable experience in family law, criminal law, probate, personal injury, contracts, oil & gas, property disputes, and labor disputes.
In April 2004, Ms. Franklin moved to Houston and began her career at Goldapp-Rodriguez, P.C. Since then, she has practiced primarily in the areas of personal injury and family law. She has enjoyed good success and has been able to open and successfully close a large volume of cases, including cases successfully tried to a jury. This is indeed a rarity among young lawyers, but a necessity for an ambitious trial lawyer.
Ms. Franklin is a gifted athlete. While attending Mount Mercy College, she was a member of the NAIA-Division II Women’s Basketball Team and earned many honors, including being named Academic All-Region, Academic All-Conference, Academic All-American, and Most Improved Player. After college, her athletic interests have been focused mainly on running. She has participated in numerous 5ks, 10ks, 20ks, 25s, and 30ks. She has also run the Houston Marathon in 2005 and 2006. She is a member of the Houston Road Runners Association. When not in training, she indulges her other interests, including reading, traveling, and shopping.
Ms. Franklin’s mother and maternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from Croatia, formerly Yugoslavia. Starting a new life in a strange country, her grandparents were able to put Ms. Franklin’s mother through school, where she earned a nursing degree. Ms. Franklin is extremely proud of her family and is especially sensitive to the needs of immigrants, and the poor who struggle for success through hard work and dedication. This is why she has devoted her practice to the service of others.
